Kinnly ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Kinnly mobile application. By using Kinnly, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum amount of information necessary to operate the app safely:

  • Phone number — used only for one-time verification (OTP). Your phone number is never shared with other users or third parties.

  • Username and avatar — a display name and emoji avatar you choose. This is the only identity visible to other users.

  • Call metadata — duration, category, and rating of calls. We do not record or store call audio.

  • Device information — basic technical data (device type, OS version) for app functionality and crash reporting.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To verify your identity via one-time SMS code

  • To match you with available listeners based on your selected category

  • To display your anonymous profile within the app

  • To calculate trust scores and community ratings

  • To detect and prevent abuse, harassment, or violations of our community guidelines

  • To improve app performance and fix bugs

3. Anonymity

Kinnly is designed to be anonymous. Your real name, phone number, and personal details are never shared with other users. Your phone number is used solely for account verification and is stored securely.

4. Call Privacy

Kinnly does not record, store, or listen to the content of voice calls. All calls are routed through Twilio's encrypted VoIP infrastructure. Metadata (duration, category) is retained to support trust and safety features.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share limited information only with trusted service providers necessary to operate Kinnly:

  • Supabase — secure database and authentication infrastructure

  • Twilio — voice calling and SMS verification services

These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Call metadata is retained for up to 12 months. If you delete your account, your personal data is permanently removed within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

Kinnly is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we discover that a minor has created an account, we will delete it immediately.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you

  • Request correction of inaccurate data

  • Request deletion of your account and associated data

  • Opt out of non-essential communications

9. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted data transmission, secure authentication, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take every reasonable measure to protect your information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app. Your continued use of Kinnly after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
